02Prepare for the arrival conversation
Use this coordination checklist before your confirmed arrival date. Obtain the actual brooding, feeding and health instructions for your chick type from your supplier and qualified poultry professional.

03Layers or broilers?
Begin with what you intend to sell and whom you plan to sell it to. Chick appearance alone does not establish breed, sex, performance or suitability.

- Day-old chicks
- Newly hatched chicks supplied at the start of rearing. Confirm the hatch date and arrival arrangements with the supplier.
- Layer
- A chicken type selected for egg production. Hatchline enquiries include brown and white layer options.
- Broiler
- A chicken type selected for meat production.
- Brooding
- The early rearing period when chicks need an appropriately managed environment. Ask for guidance specific to your flock and conditions.
- Consignment
- A shipment handled as a delivery or transport unit. Confirm which documents and handover details accompany yours.
- Availability enquiry
- A request for current options and terms. It becomes a confirmed order only after the business confirms the arrangements.
